Heartland - who are we?
Heartland is a ranch located in Alberta, Canada. My name is Amy Fleming. A while ago my grandparents Jack and Lyndy Bartlett started a ranch. My mother grew up on the ranch. A few years ago my grandmother died leaving my mother Marion Fleming and my grandpa to take care of the ranch. My dad was out of the picture due to a rodeo injury that had left him scarred and never the same, and my sister Lou Fleming left Heartland for a job in New York. I was out riding the trails one day when I noticed a beautiful black stallion being treated with abuse from Mallen's farm, which is a farm deep in the woods. I returned home to Heartland to alert my mother pleading her to go to the mountains and rescue this stallion. After my mother finally agrees with me we ride up to the mountains, get the horse and put him in the trailer after a lot of struggle, and rush out before Mr. Mallen can steal back his horse. As we are trekking down the mountain in our truck a storm is raging, lightning booms in the sky and a big flash of lightning lights up the whole forest. I see a tree coming straight ahead in scream in fear just as...boom!...we crash straight into it. Next thing I know I'm in the hospital and see my Grandpa Jack and my sister Lou Fleming who flew in from New York after hearing about our accident. After reaching Heartland I immediately look around and go straight to my room. Now it is just me, my sister Lou and my Grandpa Jack, oh yeah and of course Mallory, staying at the ranch.
